Douglas B. Johnson
Over 100 Years of Combined Experience on Your SideAbout
People need a lawyer that understands their needs, a lawyer with the analytical, research, and people skills, not to mention the creativity, necessary to get the best possible outcome. That’s where I come in. My name is Douglas Johnson, and I am a skilled lawyer, who graduated law school one-third faster than most. I graduated cum laude at the top of my class, regularly receiving honors and awards for my achievements.
I am a Bloomington-Normal native, as I was born and raised in the twin cities. Also, I am not one who went straight from high school to college and then right into law school. Like my father, I thought it was important to get real-world experience before committing my life to the practice of law. Originally, I worked as a union carpenter in the area, and put those skills to work designing and constructing the Johnson Law Group Offices. While raising a family and obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I worked as a private investigator, where I gained advanced knowledge of many investigative practices. Through my time as a private investigator, I gained skills at interviewing, taking statements, and collecting and preserving evidence. Since then, I worked for many years with State Farm at their Regional and Corporate offices, and became an experienced negotiator conducting mediations representing State Farm's interests against lawyers, and I hadn’t even gone to law school yet.
Following in my father’s footsteps, I obtained my license to practice law, first in Illinois and then in the District of Columbia (D.C.). I have experience handling everything from a petty traffic offense to a murder trial. I also have experience in a number of different practice areas including: civil litigation, business planning and incorporation, expungement, sealing, and executive clemency, appellate practice, and real estate matters to name a few. I dedicate my professional efforts to protecting my client’s interests, whether it is through passionate negotiations or by aggressive defense at trial, and would be devoted to putting my skills to work for you!
When I am not fighting for my clients I still enjoy carpentry projects and spending time with my wife, Bethany, and our two children, Bailey and Caleb.
