Timothy Huyett
Over 100 Years of Combined Experience on Your Side
About
My name is Tim Huyett, and I am an Illinois native dedicated to the practice of criminal law. I have practiced throughout central and southern Illinois counties. I am a prior member of the Army National Guard, where I proudly served from 1983 until 1992. I graduated from Southern Illinois Law School in 1986 and was engaged in private law practice as a criminal defense lawyer until I was appointed as the chief prosecutor in Logan County in 1994.
Thereafter, I was elected State's Attorney in 2000 and again in 2004. I also served as a Special Prosecutor for the State’s Attorneys' Appellate Prosecutor’s Office, handling high profile criminal cases, death penalty cases, and cases in which State’s Attorneys Offices either had a conflict or needed my expertise. Thereafter, I returned to practicing criminal defense when the judiciary appointed me to serve as the Marion County Public Defender.
My practice has since entailed the private practice of criminal law, and I am dedicated to defending the rights of those wrongly accused. I have practiced law in the State of Illinois for over 40 years, during which time I have developed a keen perspective of the Illinois judicial system.
I am proud to be a part of the Johnson Law Group, where I provide expertise on criminal law issues and act as lead counsel on certain cases.
